The United Way is proud to support several local organizations. One of those is the Tri Town Theatre. Although we may not be able to see the lights of Broadway from here, we are able to enjoy live, high quality performances thanks to the Tri Town Theatre. This wonderful group began performing in this area way back in 1946 and they are still going strong thanks to the support of the community and the United Way. Thousands of people have attended Tri Town Theatre performances over the years. For many it was the only opportunity to see the biggest selling plays and musicals of the time. Especially now, many of us do not have the money to spend on traveling to the city, hotel, dinner out and theater tickets. It's wonderful to know that we can still rely on the Tri Town Theatre to bring the best of drama, comedy and music right to our community. Not only are the audiences filled with our friends and neighbors, but the actors, directors, musicians, production crews and other volunteers are people who live and work right here in the Tri Town area. As you watch any of the productions throughout the year, you may recognize children from the local schools or the person who waited on you at the local store. People from all walks of life have appeared on the stage and behind the scenes of the Tri Town Theatre over the years. During 2008, Tri Town Theater produced A Philadelphia Story, Cat On A Hot Tin Roof, Tale Of The Allergists Wife and Scrooge The Musical. In 2009, productions will include Light Up The Sky, Wait Until Dark and Gypsy. There will also be a Summer Series In The Park at General Clinton Park in Bainbridge. |
